The Spiritual India Tour is an immersive journey into the heart of India's ancient religious and cultural heritage. This 8-day pilgrimage-style tour takes you through three of the most sacred and spiritually profound destinations: Varanasi, Bodh Gaya, and Rishikesh. Each location offers unique experiences that connect travelers deeply with Hinduism, Buddhism, and yoga traditions.
Starting in Varanasi, one of the world’s oldest continuously inhabited cities and a hub for Hindu spirituality, you will witness the mesmerizing evening Ganga Aarti ceremony along the holy Ghats. Varanasi’s labyrinthine alleys, temples, and riverfront life provide a timeless glimpse into faith and ritual.
Next, the tour moves to Bodh Gaya, the place where Lord Buddha attained enlightenment under the Bodhi Tree. This UNESCO World Heritage site is dotted with beautiful monasteries, meditation centers, and the sacred Mahabodhi Temple. It is a place for deep reflection, learning, and peaceful connection with Buddhist philosophy.
The journey concludes in Rishikesh, the world yoga capital nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas on the banks of the Ganges River. Known for its ashrams, yoga retreats, and spiritual workshops, Rishikesh offers a serene environment for meditation, yoga practice, and rejuvenation.
This tour is ideal for travelers seeking spiritual awakening, cultural depth, and the chance to experience India’s sacred traditions firsthand, making it a journey of inner and outer exploration.
Varanasi, also known as Kashi or Benares, is said to be older than history itself. It’s one of the seven holiest cities (Sapta Puri) in Hinduism and is believed to be the place where Lord Shiva whispers the Taraka mantra into the ears of the dying, granting them moksha (liberation).
Thousands of pilgrims come here every day to bathe in the sacred waters of the Ganges River, perform last rites, and seek blessings at the ancient Kashi Vishwanath Temple — one of the Twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. The city pulses with the sound of temple bells, the aroma of incense, and the mesmerizing rhythm of the evening Ganga Aarti, a ritual that sends hundreds of oil lamps floating down the river like flickers of hope.
Being in Varanasi is not just about seeing temples — it’s about experiencing a living soul of India. From holy chants at dawn to cremation ghats that echo stories of life and death, Varanasi doesn’t just show you spirituality, it makes you feel it.
Bodh Gaya is the sacred spot where Prince Siddhartha Gautama meditated under the Bodhi Tree and attained enlightenment to become Buddha more than 2,500 years ago. For Buddhists, this is the most important pilgrimage site on Earth.
The Mahabodhi Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, stands near the descendant of the original Bodhi Tree. Devotees from around the world come here to meditate, pray, and walk around the temple in clockwise kora (ritual circumambulation).
Monks in saffron robes chant in dozens of languages, while the air feels thick with peaceful energy.
Whether you're a Buddhist, a seeker, or just curious, Bodh Gaya gives you a deep, quiet stillness that feels like a gentle hug to your soul. It’s not flashy — it’s deeply humbling and pure.
Nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas, Rishikesh sits beside the Ganges as it leaves the mountains. It’s the gateway to the Char Dham pilgrimages and the town where ancient sages meditated, and modern seekers find balance.
Rishikesh is renowned for its ashrams, yoga retreats, and spiritual schools where visitors learn yoga, Ayurveda, and meditation. The Parmarth Niketan Ganga Aarti is a peaceful, heart-opening experience, while walking across Laxman Jhula connects you to a legend — it's said that Lord Lakshman crossed the river here on a jute rope.
Unlike Varanasi’s intensity or Bodh Gaya’s quiet depth, Rishikesh offers a gentle spiritual awakening, surrounded by nature, kindness, and a sense of inner renewal. Whether you're joining a satsang (spiritual talk), practicing yoga at dawn, or sipping chai while listening to the river, Rishikesh feels like a spiritual retreat wrapped in the arms of the Himalayas.
You will arrive at Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport in Varanasi, one of the oldest living cities in the world and a spiritual center of India. After a warm welcome, a private vehicle will take you to your hotel near the famous Ghats by the holy Ganges River. Take some time to rest after your journey.
In the afternoon, explore the narrow lanes of Varanasi’s old city. This place feels like a living museum with local markets, holy men dressed in orange robes, and many ancient temples. The air is filled with the sounds of chants and the smell of incense.
As the sun goes down, enjoy the famous Ganga Aarti ceremony at Dashashwamedh Ghat. Watch as priests perform synchronized rituals with large fire lamps while thousands of people gather, creating a powerful and peaceful atmosphere. This ceremony connects you with centuries of spiritual tradition.
Start early with a calm boat ride on the Ganges at dawn. As the morning mist rises, you will float past the ancient steps of the Ghats where pilgrims bathe and pray. The river is full of life with morning prayers, yoga, and floating flower offerings.
After breakfast, visit the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, one of Hinduism’s most important gods. The temple’s golden spire shines brightly, and many devotees visit every day.
Later, take a short drive to Sarnath, an important Buddhist site. This is where Buddha gave his first sermon after becoming enlightened. Explore the peaceful ruins, the big Dhamek Stupa, and the museum with ancient artifacts. Walking here feels like stepping back in time to where one of the greatest teachers shared his message.
Return to Varanasi in the evening. You can stroll the colorful markets or attend an optional classical music or dance show.
Today, you will take a road or train journey of about 250 kilometers to Bodh Gaya, where Siddhartha Gautama became the Buddha over 2,500 years ago. The trip will take 6 to 7 hours, passing through the green fields and villages of Bihar.
Once in Bodh Gaya, check into your hotel or guesthouse and relax. The town is quiet and full of spiritual energy.
In the evening, enjoy a calm walk around the Mahabodhi Temple complex and see monks chanting and meditating by candlelight. The view of the temple at dusk is unforgettable.
Spend the day visiting Bodh Gaya’s most sacred places. Visit the Mahabodhi Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where Buddha reached enlightenment under the Bodhi Tree. You can sit quietly and feel the deep spiritual energy.
Walk through the colorful monastery complex, with Buddhist centers from many countries like Japan, Tibet, and Thailand. Each has its own style, statues, and quiet meditation halls. Bodh Gaya is truly a global spiritual center.
You might also join meditation classes or listen to talks by monks or teachers to learn more about Buddhist ideas.
In the afternoon, explore the local markets for handicrafts, prayer wheels, and souvenirs.
Today is a travel day. Usually, you take a flight from Patna Airport to Dehradun Airport, followed by a 45-minute drive to Rishikesh, set on the banks of the Ganges at the foothills of the Himalayas.
In Rishikesh, check into your hotel or ashram and breathe in the fresh mountain air. This town is famous for yoga and spiritual retreats.
Spend the evening relaxing by the river or preparing for the next day’s activities.
Start your day with a refreshing morning yoga session at a local center, perfect for all levels. Feel your body and mind wake up as you stretch and breathe by the holy river.
Visit landmarks like the Laxman Jhula suspension bridge for beautiful views and photos. Explore the Beatles Ashram, where the famous band stayed in the 1960s. It’s now a peaceful place filled with art and spiritual energy.
In the evening, watch the Ganga Aarti ceremony at Triveni Ghat, a smaller but equally moving ritual where lamps are lit and prayers are sung.
Today you can choose what you want to do. Go for a gentle river rafting trip on the Ganges for some excitement, or spend more time in meditation classes or visiting temples like Neelkanth Mahadev.
You can also enjoy a hike in the nearby hills, where you might see birds and enjoy lovely views.
End the day quietly by the river, reflecting on your journey.
After breakfast, you will be taken to Dehradun Airport or the train station for your onward trip. Take the calm and peace from this spiritual trip with you.
